Finding Resources On and Off Campus

As UL Lafayette recognizes Mental Health Week, the Graduate School has compiled a short list of resources for students to have on hand. These resources address general health, sexual wellness, mental health, substance use, food security, financial assistance, and support for those affected by domestic violence on campus and locally around Lafayette.
Healthcare (General, Sexual, Mental, Substance Use)
First, UL Lafayette’s Office of Student Health Services provides medical care to all UL Lafayette students. For students taking 6+ hours in the Fall or Spring semester, or 3+ hours in Summer, membership is covered in general student fees. The cost is $25 per semester for all other students and gives them access to an unlimited number of medical evaluations with a doctor or nurse practitioner during that semester. This includes physicals, “Well Woman” appointments, assessments for illnesses and minor injuries, and consultations for medical issues.

UL Lafayette’s Counseling and Testing Center provides in-person counseling for individuals, couples, families, and other groups. They also host a place for testing. Their partnership with Uwill expands the Counseling and Testing Senter’s services, allowing students (including distance learning students) to choose a licensed therapist, set up teletherapy appointments, and access medication management services.
The Mental Health Crisis Support call line (833-646-1526) is another extension of the Counseling and Testing Center’s partnership with Uwill. This line is answered by a mental health professional who provides immediate crisis support and directs callers to additional care, if needed.
Another option for situations where local, campus-based follow-up is important, is the university’s on-call counselor, who can be reached by first calling the ѻƵ Police at 337-482-6447 and letting them know that you would like to speak with the counselor. The police will take your name and phone number, then contact the counselor, who is available 24/7 and will get in touch with you as soon as possible.
