Welcoming Marcelle Fontenot as Chief Communications Officer

Dear campus community,

I am pleased to share that veteran broadcaster Marcelle Fontenot will join the ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ at Lafayette as chief communications officer, beginning April 1.

As we continue building the leadership team that will help guide the ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ forward, strengthening how we communicate with our campus community, prospective students, their families, alumni and partners across the region and beyond remains an important priority. Clear, thoughtful communication is essential to how we engage our audiences and to how we move forward together.

Marcelle brings more than two decades of experience as a television journalist and news anchor covering Acadiana. An Opelousas native, she is widely recognized as a trusted voice in local news and has earned Associated Press awards for investigative and community affairs reporting. Throughout her career, she has helped inform and connect the communities we serve. Her work has given her a strong understanding of the ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ and the role it plays in our region.

As chief communications officer, Marcelle will lead the Office of Communications & Marketing and serve as a communications adviser to ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ leadership. Her experience and perspective will help us more effectively communicate the ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ’s impact — the people, the ideas and the work that define UL Lafayette and make it such a special place.

You can read the full ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ announcement here.

Please join me in welcoming Marcelle to the ÎÚÑ»ÊÓƵ.

Geaux Cajuns!
